BUBBA FOWLER - And Then Came Bubba

Starting his musical career as part of a duo (with Chuck Woolery!) as "The Avant-Garde" with the singles "Yellow Beads" (re-done on this LP) ,and "Naturally Stoned" (a top-40 hit!) in 1967. Elkin "Bubba" Fowler, also played guitar for Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen ,both of whom he resembles ,musically ,lyrically ,and vocally on this 1970 album. "The Pounding Status Quo" ,is a Dylan rip ,and one of the best tracks here. Other standouts include ,"Listen Big City" ,"Next Year This Time" , and "The Messenger Of Life". The re-make of his former group's ,"Yellow Beads" ,is a hippy story ,and much of the material is either dated or has much to do with what's happening in the world right now! I remember snatching this up while thrifting ,and taking it over to Joel's house for a spin on his turntable. We just fell about in laughter ,looking at Bubba's front cover pic ,and hearing him totally aping Dylan's whole schtick! What a blast!

ICE CREAM SANDWICH SHIT HEAD - Guitarbage

Another great tardcore album from ICSSH! Funnier than ever before ,what with tales of strawberry Pop-Tarts , Phil Collins ,killing your parents,Bob Dylan, pickles and soiled diapers, and more weirdness. Johnny Cash is covered ,as well as Tommy James & the Shondells classic ,"I Think We're Alone Now"! Special guest ,Kevin ,does vocals on 2 songs ,one of which is a bonus track on this release(a GG Allin cover!),from an upcoming compilation, which will be posted here ,when it comes out next year! Stupid ,juvenile ,tardcore ,the kind which will make you wear Depends undergarments. Check youtube for his live videos! crappyatlife

BLOODPONIES - Anchoroar

Some more experimental trippiness from my pal ,Dylan. Boy ,his parents named him right! If ol' Bob was startin' up today ,he would have to go for a sound like this! Man ,why ain't Dylan Houser famous yet??!! Fantastic music for laying back ,toastin' one up ,and drinkin' down! Lots more to come soon!

CAT MACHINE - Slop Maintenance

Release # 38 from the greatest undiscovered,underground,outsider,cult-band,from Ft. Myers,FL , 3/30/1991.Ed,Joel,and Chipmonk, are here ,in full force, and Tony showed up for a few songs. One of their finest moments is here("Who Threw The Glass In The Street?"),based on a movie script ,from a Bob Dylan film.10 tunes, recorded in the 4-track studio. The quantity of songs is lower, the quality higher! This was a fertile creative period for the band, owing much to the recording techniques. The picture above, was stuck on the old Flying-V ,on the back, came from a trash can,and reminded me of Mel (Mel's Diner)from the TV show ,"Alice".
