The Fog Hats - Too Punk For You!

well, these guys use the word Fog Hat to describe the limp wristed types,to avoid confrontation and having to dispose of trash. They are from the small town of Smithville, OK,and these okies ain't no joke!! They are would be Bums & Losers members, who opted to go full punk, although some of their metal/hard rock aspects show thru.Lyrics are, funny, nostalgic, and sing-a-long punk rock, that all punkers will enjoy.Twinges of grunge and tardcore seep thru as well,Bringing the old punk sound into today's world of shittier and shittier bands/artists.....this is the shit! and the best thing is,there are demos of almost all these songs (all but the last track) ,that have slightly different sound and music, and even vocal style, and will probably be released at some point!

THE DONNAS/TOILET BOYS split 7"

The Donnas ,towards the end of their existence ,sounding much like the Runaways and Kiss ,and other 70's hard rock outfits ,meet the Toilet Boys ,who also favor the sound of 70's styled hard rock ,put this split out thru Lookout Records back in 1999. I like the Donnas ,but I prefer the early stuff ,when they were aping the Ramones. The Toilet Boys ,well,I've never seeked out any of their other stuff ,so I can't really speak on them, other than to say ,their lead singer looks like a girl ,but is not! This is pretty rockin' though! On pure white vinyl (see pics in zip)

FREAK THEATRE 7"

Another single outta NJ ,from the dreaded Heat Blast Records. This kinda reminds me of latter-era Redd Kross ,in all their 70's cum 90's hard rock ways (with a bit of a harder edge!). Just what you'd expect from NJ's answer to Seattle's scene. Try finding any info on these guys ,impossible!

STRYKER - Ride The Lightning

This is an extremely rare collection of,demos,out-takes ,and unreleased stuff ,from my high school chum's band ,Stryker. I know many people out there are looking for more of this classic mid-80's hard rock/heavy metal band. This is after the album was released, and Steve and Sarah were living on the fish farm.Sarah sings in her Pat Benatar/Lita Ford style, Steve does some vocals, and he brought in another singer,I think his name was Mark? He sounds like Rob Halford of Judas Priest fame, and the music is of the same mold. There is some humor ("Frogheads",about old folks) ,an Alice Cooper chestnut, some instrumentals, and a few songs that almost resemble Rush! "The Last Free Man" ,is close to sounding similar to Rush's "Tom Sawyer",and "Spirit" ,is also in that realm. This is the only copy of these recordings, and on my posting of their only album , I included 10 more unreleased tracks,in case you didn't notice, (get it here :http://www.mediafire.com/?nndtl2igtgz) ,which are in line with what we have here.Last I heard ,Steve was composing music for various video games. I'd like him to contact me ,and maybe I can get some more Stryker stuff from him! Thanks ,Steve and Sarah ,for all the tunes, and all the good times! If you are at all into any metal , this will get your blood pumping!

FOREIGN LEGION - Surf City e.p.

Despite the art and e.p. title, this is not a surf band! These guys are from the UK ,and sound kinda thrashy, kinda hard rock, with a punk touch. From the 99 cent bin,the pic of the band ,on the back, tells the whole story.Ugh.

EXPLICITLY INTENSE- Insanity Sampler #4

From issue # 16 ,2004 ,of Explicitly Intense Magazine.Formerly located in Pasadena ,CA,the staff made the move to the former Death Metal capitol of the world,Tampa.Publisher/Editor In Chief,Sarjoo Devani, also employs some of his family members, and a stable of free-lance journalists, and photographers. Sarjoo is a dedicated metalhead, open to all forms of metal. As a result ,his music compilations, are somewhat lopsided,if you will. There's always good stuff on his comps, but he sometimes sticks a stink bomb in there,as if to clear out and seperate, the trve from the false.Good guy,I've got many more of his comps.,if anyone is interested.Let me know by commenting below,if you want more from EXPLICITLY INTENSE!!!

CAT MACHINE- Big Hunk O' Cheese

The next part in our continuing series, this is a 6 song e.p. ,recorded on 4-track studio in Tony's room. The production here is raw,but I plan that all 4-track stuff will be remixed, after this series has run it's course.Genre -hopping on musical styles here, you get a white boy funk sound, some weird stoner rock,multi-speed cut-up lyrics, lounge jazz porn, hard rock/metal,and some bluesy riffs.Weird and trippy, check this out.Joel,Tony, and I,are the band,no guests,we all do vocals, and play everything. From Oct '90. All is unimportant,on God's scale!

RAMMPAGE-debut ep

This is some biker bar band from the Ft. Myers scene.I don't think anyone in our scene would know them, since none of us ,with a few exceptions, have been known to frequent biker bars.4 songs that verge on heavy metal, really some chooglin' ol' hard rock.I can hear Alice Cooper,Kiss,Tygers Of Pan Tang,Motley Crue, all blended up with some southern rock.A couple of times they almost sound like the great cheez metal band,Rokker, which is cool, since Rammpage hasn't a clue.Recorded at Sound Check Studios,in the FTM.Not bad, very rare,if you like rock music at all, you'll be diggin' this. They can't spell.

STRYKER

this was my high school friend, steve maitland's band.i sang in the early stages, till they got sarah, who steve later married.the music is like classic hard rock/heavy metal, leaning heavily towards judas priest/iron maiden and the nwobhm sound.with pat benatar or lita ford on vocals.nuances of 70's-80's metal music shows thru.this is the original album, with 6 bonus unreleased tracks(one with steve singing!).i have a 19 song second release, that no one has ever heard, and it may be even better than this.if i get good response on this,i'll fill you in on more info, and post that rarity.

NULL AND VOID-hell to pay

hard rock/metal with a ft.myers/tampa axis, reminds me of a combo of black sabbath, hawkwind, and voivod.don't ask me why i hear that,i just do,you may hear something totally different.recorded at apple studios in tampa, this is a whirlwind production with cool samples interspersed.seen them live once and they could'nt match the sound on this release.they were heavier and these songs were nearly unrecognizable.if you like rock and metal, this should be fun for you!

THE JACKIE EARLE HALEYS

okay,i wrote all the lyrics and the songs are all true stories.total 70's rock god worship lotsa t.rex,sweet,kiss,refrences.lotsa hookers, drugs, sneakin out at night, skippin' school, gettin' in trouble, smokin, drinkin, drivin, hot rods, hot chicks, love, love lost, power ballads, good hard rock before metal came about, still kinda has that punky(meadows)edge.if you lived thru the 70's,watched that 70's show, have a passing interest in any thing teenage related, smoke herb, went to high school(why do you think they call it "high"school?),or just are a culture fan,you will surely enjoy this.ed on vocals, vance on bass, billy on guitar, and we all played drums and switched around instruments.i started myself in 92,wrote the first 2 e.p.s,vance joined part way thru 2nd e.p.then by 94vance and i wrote abunch more tunes ,at which time somewhere into this era, billy joined.by the end of the year we had a full lineup including also tony and mike smith.only 3 rehearsals 2 tapes exist and that was it,never played live but coulda opened for the donnas or the runaways if given the chance.i'll tell more when i put more haleys up.kelly leek as he was known in the bad news bears, the bad news bears in breaking training, and the bad news bears go to japan, jackie earle haley was a bad kid.perfect name to relate these tunes of teen angst and joy.CLICK HERE: https://sluggishatapes.bandcamp.com/album/the-jackie-earle-haleys
