For the 9th year in a row,the annual Xmastravaganza compilation is here from Sluggisha! This year 33 bands,perform 47 songs! Nearly 2 full hours of the best xmas music of this year! W.G.O.D. # 76 - 7/29/1999 -ALL U.K. PUB ROCK FROM (MOSTLY) 1976

Back with the next podcast of U.K. "pub rock" ,trying to zoom in on the year 1976 ,as this was episode #76 of the W.G.O.D. radio programs.Originally broadcast July 29,1999 ,with pints of Guinness and li'l Eddie.Thanks for most all of the music, from an old friend,Leo Johnson ,who owns tons of original U.K. singles and LPs ,which he procured on a few trips there ,in 1976 thru 1980.Also thanks to Joel and Ashey ,who also provided a couple things played here.This was broadcast before the advent of (at least for me) home computers ,so access to all this music was not as easy as it is now.
There are still a few more tapes to come, in this series ,sporting even more U.K. punk,pub,ska,reggae,dub,oi! ,etc. from back in the days of old. I will attempt to create the atmosphere of a dingy ,run-down ,english pub ,that has the best beer ,and plays the best music. Drink up!!

W.G.O.D. #74 - July 23 ,1999

This broadcast was the starting episode for the W.G.O.D. Pub Rock series. Although this whole show is not "pub rock" ,proper ,I did get the idea for the series on this broadcast.There are a series of around a half dozen or more shows ,featuring all U.K. punk ,dub ,and reggae ,from the glory years of 1975-1980 ,although some of the songs do not quite meet the criteria (including a Sluggisha set) ,I was trying to create the atmosphere of drinking in a U.K. pub ,complete with pints of Guinness and punk rock ,on every show in the series. I will be posting the rest of these shows ,soon. Like I said ,this recording does'nt start out as "pub rock" ,but soon melds into it. Enjoy a beer with this music ,and Oi!!

WGOD # 14 - early 90's - Punk show - rap/dub/reggae show

On this ,one of the earliest WGOD broadcasts ,the show is split into : The Punk Rock Show ,and the Rap/Dub/Reggae Show. There is no Sluggisha set ,as this was before that was a part of WGOD's playlists. Just slamdancin' classic punk tunes and rumblings from the ghettos! I gave away most all of the WGOD tapes ,although Fred (Jeff McDonald ,not formerly of Redd Kross) ,says he has a bunch he found in an old trunk ,that he will give me! WGOD #13 -GODCAST 6/2/1992

One of the earliest,(from when I began numbering the tapes,there were a ton of unnumbered volumes scattered round our town and the world!), WGOD radio tapes I could find in the vault( there may be earlier ones,I think I saw #6 down there!),I used to make these as mix tapes for friends,and I gave away a ton of them,and never made copies of them,so if you have one,it's the only one of it's kind.Don't get the wrong idea about the call letters,I have nothing to do with church,christ,religion,or any of that shit,I chose the name GOD because I play the best tunes,the "god"head of music!(and also so the people of the world would no longer have to worship "false" gods!) On here I play classic punk stuff as well as what was then current alternative and punk music,wih some dub and rap mixed in.Always a surprise,this is before I got my M.C. , Doug Shannon,who worked as a d.j. at the local oldies station,and made tapes of liners and drops ,for use between songs I played on the air.No track list,but I will tell you what's playing,if you listen!Tell me you love it,and I'll post more! HERB PIRATE

This artist lives on an island near Jamaica,with some amps and instruments and a dog and a boat,and a television with a satellite dish,which is how he picks up his ideas.This is a concept album,based on Herb's adventures and nightmares of fighting a dub war with a ghost who lives in his t.v..Mostly based on an argument with David Letterman,about the world of the future,and how the ghost in the television plans on ruining any hope of a future which includes,flying cars,homes in space,and summer dogs.White boy rasta sounds,songs in homage to Haile Sellassie,praise Jah,homage to the sacred herb.A pirate who only robs smugglers of their green,to keep himself supplied,and able to survive on his own little island in the Carribean.Toke up and listen here,the second part of this Jah-pera,chronicles the battle with the ghost in the t.v.,and could cause trouble if you let him out thru your stereo or player,while listening,or even worse,listening on your computer,and having him get trapped in your hard drive!Anyway ,don't fear,listen to this,and leave comments for Herb,we'll send them in a bottle thrown into the gulf!
