ONE FELL SWOOP - A Little Terrycloth Number

The under-rated,underground,outsider ,cult-band ,spawned from the fumes of Cat Machine ,recorded this ,their 22nd (!) album ,on Nov.21 ,1991. I don't recall how the album got it's title ,but a few songs on this one ,resemble the Birthday Party ,lyrically, musically ,and vocally! I'm talking specifically about the tunes, "Shirt Stuck" , "Drag Yard" , and "Blasted Gallows" , the titles of which even resemble something that would spew from the mind of Nick Cave. There are some really good songs on here, these guys shoulda made a record!

HED - 7 inch single

3 songs from these maniacs,on clear purple vinyl, no less! There's a cover of the MC5's "I Want You",if that gives you a clue as to what they sound like."Lizard Loop",is way out there, gone daddy-o ,and the lead track is a steady rockin' number, that has a touch of The Birthday Party ,to it,and the vocalist, spits a steady stream of Nick Cave-isms,even sounding a good bit like ol' Nick in the voicebox area.Pretty fuckin' decent for the 99 cent bin!

BIRTHDAY PARTY - Rare,Live,& Demos

There are 3 rare recordings included here.First, "The Black Mass Has Started",which is what Nick Cave says at the beginning of this live recording, right after he asks,"Why are there only 12 of you?",to which an audience member replies,"But we'll make the noise of a thousand people!".Recorded by my old friend,Leo Johnson, when he traveled to London. He said it was a small, almost, cabaret, with cocktail tables in front of the stage, from where he recorded this masterpiece.May 26,1982 ,London,
Hammersmith,Clarendon Ballroom. Most of Junkyard is covered, with a few from Prayers On Fire. And a fine cover of The Loved Ones ,"Sad Dark Eyes".I don't believe either of these live shows have ever been released,in any form. The other live show(as well as the demos) ,"Ready As We'll Ever Be"(something said by a band member right before starting "Rowland Around In That Stuff") is from I believe a boot tape stand that Leo also went to in London,at a flea market,or something.Recorded June 12,1981 ,London,West Hampstead ,Moonlight Club ,mostly Prayers On Fire and earlier, and a few of Junkyard's songs.A few glitches in the tape, but great sound.Missing the last 3 songs from the show."God Damned Demos" follows most of the same tracks as The Peel Sessions ,but 2 songs at the end are different. It's a boot, whattya want for free? And you better be leavin' a happy birthday wish for Sluggisha,in the post below this,if you decide you want to hear this rarity! thanks -G O D

BUZZ WORKSHOP-in-crowd cult heroes

more rollicking fun rock from the buzz workshop,a loosely-knit,interchangable group of fellas, who just love to record their do-goodings,to share with the world.this time round the line-up is:me,joel, tall ray, mike"mcschwuggles"mezaros, and vance, march 24th,1996.the lead-off track pinches a birthday party guitar line,to good effect.2 great cover versions of velvet underground's"sister ray",as sung by joel.and the other tracks are no slouches either.total 1-2-3-go! style, and it was all written in the stars that day,or some kinda crap like that!recorded in fantastic"you are here"sound,i shit you not, you'll swear you're in the living room at joel's 5455 club.

UNITED BOOGER RECYCLING

This is a precursor to Industrial Belt B-38.just prior to that band's launch me and Vance made this sometimes goofy tape.the most well known track here is,"She Really Gets the Shakes(When I Stomps on the Brakes)",which uses the speech detriment of Jerry Lee as vocals.there is a badly done Birthday Party medley, and glimpses of the B-38 sound.all in all, decent listening.

BONESHAKER

take some myopia, add a little kike, stir in some centrifuge, you got you some BONESHAKER!.tony ,ron bohn, and vance, are psychin- out on this awesome release.several instrumentals litter up the joint a bit,but rock none the less.great covers of the birthday party and dead or alive,as well as a stonehenge mouth number.tony is in top form lyrically, vocally, and instrumentally.vance is the steady anchor as always, and ron, while not in many sluggisha bands, holds his own here.there may be more tracks missing,as with kike and centrifuge,i need vance to get in touch with me,cuz he may have the lost sluggisha archives treasure chest(we all hope!)sometimes obtuse, other times ,shades of pop, this is a band to be reckoned with.art by tony and hopefully he'll leave some more notes about boneshaker in the comments!G O D.
p.s. a boneshaker is a velocipede!'

Flowers Of Darkness-F.O.D.

me and count vance,a black goth duo, melancholic and somber, vampiric and romantic,angst-ridden depressing, anti religious immortal music.no comparison to any band, very original, besides well chosen covers of rik l rik,the birthday party, samhain, misfits, big boys,45 grave, lisa suckdog carver, tom jones(!?),and a bunch of old hymns.definitely the best goth duo you've never heard, makes goth chicks swoon, getcha some.never played live, coulda stormed the town, dammit anyway here is everything ever recorded minus a few remixes sure to please not just goth but those who like a solid tune that rocks.G O D.
