Sluggisha Tapes started as a mail order cassette label on this day,November 14th,in 1990,making us 34 years old this year,2024! We have also had a prescence on the web since 2008,everywhere from youtube to bandcamp,archive to blogspot ,soundcloud to the moon! just google "sluggisha" or "sluggisha tapes" to find a huge rabbit hole that you can fall into for all eternity ,for all I care!,ha ha ,just kidding! Im glad you have been here with me for this ride,which i hope continues for a long time to come.Ive recently uploaded a ton of stuff to my youtube and bandcamp pages,with some merch as well,please buy,and help me survive.I hate to beg,and have to come to you and ask for money,but it is a case of life and death,literally!I have reached the milestone of 60 years old this year,and my health is not great but not horrible either. At the current time I need to have sugery on a parotid gland,which is a salivary gland on the right side of my neck. I noticed an egg sized lump there on october 1st.I saw a doctor a few times,and surgery is required,as it is a tumor which may be cancerous. I need 10.000 dollars to have the surgery and pay all the people involved,and the hospital.I left my job 5 and a half years ago,to care for my wife,who has had a few strokes,since 2014.In 2019 she had a bad stroke,and then they found she had a hole in her heart since birth,which they fixed,so no more strokes,but disability still exists.We live on her disability check,i get no money for being her caregiver,and my younger son also has health issues,and has been out of work for nearly 3 years,awaiting disability ruling,and i care for him,as well.So none of us work,and I need to keep myself alive to care for my family.And to keep bringing you great ,weird,underground,music you will hear nowhere else! this is a link to the gofund me page https://gofund.me/fcd3ee1a  that my son set up for me. anything will help. ive had small and big donors,and I appreciate all of you out there.please help keep Sluggisha alive.I am trying to get XMASTRAVAGANZA #14 done before I have to have surgery as I will not be able to do much while recovering for weeks,maybe months. lots of complications could arise,losing feeling in face and inability to speak correctly are top fears for me.then ,if i do have cancer,i have to have radiation and chemo,and I really dont think I can do that.I am scared and wish this was all a bad dream,but whenever I reach up and touch my neck,'ol lump is still there,not going away...I hope to make it thru this.c'mon and show me some support.please.  https://gofund.me/fcd3ee1a 

SLUGGISHA TAPES 33 YEARS OLD!!! SLUGGISHA BLOGSPOT 15 YEARS ONLINE!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

 

Yup,33 years ago today,I started my mailorder cassette catalog of bands I was in,and bands of my friends.A lot of that music is now available on this blog,(I know lots of links are dead,I am trying to get everything back to normal),I have begun to put most stuff onto bandcamp ,found here: https://sluggishatapes.bandcamp.com/  .I have also added more videos to the Sluggisha youtube found here : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrmgC9elXBKwxPHQw_PUkTw . The newest Z.A.T.H. cd " Zap All Those Humans" will be released sometime in the near future by T.E.D. Records a/k/a Thee Epileptic Dragonfly Records ,from France.They also released Karen Greenlee Army- KGA - "Cooking With Friends" cd,and Noisekillr ,"The 7 Walls Of Elite Darkness" cd,as well as a bunch more swell stuff! In other terms,"If you know,you know" This blog will continue to remain active indefinitely into infinity,perhaps.Or it could all end today,due to an untimely death.  Finally!!! after 9 long years,this cassette from 2012 has made it to the blog.CAT MACHINE IS FOR YOU,EVEN IF YOU NEVER HEARD OF THEM!!!Long out of print,if you own a copy,limited to 50,recorded onto recycled cassette tapes,and distributed by Lava Church Records,then you are a purveyor and seeker of ,underground,cult,weird,odd,avant garde musicians.This upload also includes a song which has gone unheard for years,submitted but never added to this tape.Useless Pile's version of "Boiling In The Bathtub",is the final track on this,still a mystery thats never been solved! Anyways,check out this tribute,to the little band that could,a group of punks whose sheer tolerance for the world,impacted an unknown number of kids,into starting their own bands! The band of bastards that spawned hundreds of bastard bands!! Read the notes on how the band (and the Sluggisha Tapes label!) ,got it's start,and read the lyrics to every song included here,also bonus stuff in the download are rare flyers and art. I planned on having an upload of BUILDING A BETTER MOUSETRAP - A TRIBUTE TO CAT MACHINE ,today,but ran into upload problems,it is a tape from 2012,honoring the band who really got SLUGGISHA TAPES started , CAT MACHINE !!.Released originally on Lava Church Records,a small diy label in Sarasota,FLA,USA!.I still plan on this happening today! Yup! so 30 years have passed ,Sluggisha Tapes is still in operation!Sluggisha blogspot has been battered and deleted numerous times,but will eventually be restored with links to everything on the blog,and new stuff coming all the time.Google "sluggisha" and you will find we are everywhere on the web.Been on the internet as a blog for 12 years now!SLUGGISHA:THE BOOK  is still in the writing stages and will be published within a year.I was going for releasing it this year,but many obstacles arose.I will make a concerted effort to restore both the Sluggisha AND  the Mediachrist blogs,in addition to getting a bunch of new releases out ,some which have been in holding pattern for years!.Thanks to all who have supported the label and the bands over the years.And the WGOD   podcast listeners I would have loved to do a    WGOD podcast today for the 30th,but,alas ,i am ill prepared and/or have a lack of proper equipment to do so.Please go to my storefronts online and contribute to Sluggisha! That's right.it's the eleventh straight year of demented,noisy,punk rock,and non traditional xmas music,from your favorite troupe of dimwits ,on the Sluggisha Tapes/Blogspot roster! I can't say enough about this awesome compilation,and all the great folks ,who came together,to make this possible! Mikey D. did the front cover art this year,and Gray Meatballs did the back cover,whilst G O D compiled this whole mess.Got some punk rock,some noise,some tardcore,some metal,some experimental,some hnw,and the lounge-y sounds of the world's most infamous crooner,and keeper of the old world,GROB!! This usually featured on radio and internet outlets ,nationwide,every year.Let's hope this year is no different!

some results from the CENTRAL FLORIDA ANTI-FEST ,APRIL 9TH,2016 at UNCLE LOU'S in ORLANDO,FLORIDA!!!!!

The noise/experimental affair was in celebration of Dylan Houser's birthday,which was a couple days before this show.As you can see,folks came from all around Florida ,and further ,to play at the cramped,dingy,extremely dimly-lit bar ,Uncle Lou's ,in Orlando ,a stronghold for bookings of noise shows ,and other musics. I could only stay for the first half of the show,and my videos reflect that timeline. I left as Su Sous was performing.

To start the festival,the star and center of attention,the birthday-boy,whooped out a short set of irregular spasmodic jerking thrash-bot spew,while a long-haired fella,whipped his locks to and fro

reminiscent of solo bedroom band experiments,from the days of yore





Then a fella with a cello wired into a pc screen weirdness from OLA LINDEFELT

next as it got darker in the club was my pal CRUSTGIRLS,who blasted some primal noise rock

A strange young man with a superior moustache,finely waxed,and a chapaeu with a working light bulb stickng out the top ,sharpening a knife on a knife sharpener,wired for sound!!! also scored some choice releases from this chap!I present PIG SHRAPNEL!!

VIRGIN FLOWER ,performed some one-man Ministry/industrial-noise rock,fuckn' awesome!

Followed by my buddy Tree ,performing as DURASTATIC!   my camera was charging so ,no footage,but check youtube,someone is sure to have recorded it!

Hal,my noisy friend,did his VASECTOMY PARTY  project ,here's a short clip ,as the club grew pitch black!

SHORTWAVE FREQUENCY was up next,as I was setting up for my most fierce,brutal,noisest set EVER!  NOISEKILLR TORE THE JOINT UP!!!!

Anyway ,it was fun ,and I wish I could get out and play more. I'd like to do some more Yobel Weenel with my boys ,and would someday like to do a gig with my band Sha Ma Mo (Dylan,Katter,& I) ,as we have never played out live. Also Dylan and I should do a set together sometime!
