VARIOUS ARTISTS - St. Patrick's Day 2012 Live At The Swamp III

Happy Easter ,everyone! Here's 4 bands on the Brown Bear Records label ,had a little party/living room gig ,on St. Patrick's Day ,and recorded the whole affair. Jake Joyce ,of Seasonal Men's Wear ,Nacho Knees ,and other bands and projects ,goes first with a set of topical holiday covers ,all done acoustic folk/punk style. Next up ,representing the Black Metal underground is Severed Vein. Then G.A.T. ,takes the stage ,and blasts out a few rounds of poppy punk stylings. And finally the duo of, The Dirty Heels ,featuring the lovely and talented Danielle (my new favorite female vocalist!) ,on the smooth, sultry ,and sexy vocals backed by Tommy on guitar ,slingin' covers ,and originals (mis-titled ,the real titles are: track 15 "Faking It" , track 17 "All I Wanted") ,that sound like oldies cut from the same cloth as the covers!. This is a great release ,and everyone should enjoy it! Props to Jake for sending it in ,and all the bands for getting together for this release!

PORK - Strip

Texas trio of punk girls ,with garage punk undertones , pop sensibilities ,and a rockin' sound. This came out in 1994 after a pair of 7" singles (http://www.krecs.com/html/artists/artistpage.php?interest=135 ) ,then pretty much disappeared.Nice document of their songs. All 3 sing, and this was produced by Alejandro Escovedo. The drummer ,Edith is pictured above from the "Hole In The Wall 1997 Calendar - Girls Of The Hole".Read more here: ( http://holeinthewalltx.tripod.com/articles/DT-pork10011996.html ). Good stuff if you like rockin' girls from the Lone Star state.

PROPAGANDHI - How To Clean A Couple O' Things

Firey, political pop-punk,2 songs ,"Pigs Will Pay" b/w "Stick The Flag Up Your Ass" ,that will get the pit going! The funniest thing here,is that the band took a NOFX single sleeve, and pasted and scribbled all over the top of it! Makes Green Day,and others of their ilk, look like the wimpy pussies ,we always knew they were!

WOOLY MAMMOTH -Cindysville e.p.

A poppy trio from CA,with the e.p.'s namesake (Cindy) on drums. From the liner notes,it appears they have played with many CA area punk bands. Not bad,the most interesting thing is their record labels name : Breathalizer Records ! 2 WCFOOM references in a row!,god damn!

OBLIVION -Product

This Illinois trio, play a trio of songs on this 7".the 1st track is a great pop-punk song of unrequited love, for a girl who's too drunk to see.The other 2 songs remind me of rap-metal stuff, but maybe not as bad as what followed.Lyrics are out of the ordinary,on Johann's Face Records,Chicago,1993

DISHWASHER-Music to Wash Dishes By -Vol.1

So this guy,Pete, decided one day,to try and wash dishes in every state,in the U.S.A.,and started a zine called,"Dishwasher",one of which is included in this comp.As you can see by the cover, you know what bands are here, all doing songs that are unavailable elsewhere, and all have to do with being a dishwasher, and working in a restaurant. The Scared Of Chaka track ,"Dish Militia"does it for me.And the songs are held together with audio clips from the film,"Mr.Dish Machine Operator",which is stupid funny.Check out Pete's zine in the zip,oh yeah Ten-Four does,"Pete's Theme".I washed dishes at The Clock Restaurant,North Ft Myers, when I was 15.I can relate. On 702 Records,Reno,NV.

MYOPIA-burning eye crown

This is some lost tape that Shane gave me ,when we were recording the band,FUCK.Not sure of the origin or the year or place, maybe Tony can fill us in.Sounds quite early on,to these ears.only 6 tracks, most of the sound goes to one side, there is a muffled drop-out in the 1st song, but it's relatively smooth sailing from there.Noisy psych/pop/punk,that should have seen vinyl. One of the best bands from the Ft. Myers scene.Art and title by Gray Meatballs. The tape has other stuff on it too,not sure what it is,but it 's a mess,to be sure. One of the most downloaded bands on this blog, this is very rare,as are any Myopia releases.
