ONE FELL SWOOP - Live! At The Draft House ,Downtown Ft.Myers ,Florida 2/26/1992

I found a lost live recording in the vault! This is a really good one! Our last gig ever ,at the Draft House ,Joel ,our defacto drummer ,had a broken arm ,so he was relegated to keys and also did vocals on a few numbers.Shane Carwile was beating the skins ,Chipmonk and I were on guitars ,and Billy Drake plays guitar on a number with Sean Burch on vocals! The last track is the very first time FUCK (the terror rock band with Mad Asshole-bass vox,Big Black Cock -guitar ,and Shaggy Dick -drums) ever played together ,with a totally improv number ,"You".They later recorded several sessions together,and toured Europe. But back to OFS! Different versions of all their set list ,all their usual covers ,and some improv instrumentals. New covers we never played before include ,Wire's "12XU" ,KISS "Rock N' Roll All Night" and Cat Machine "Queen Turd Of Shit Hill"!And the usual covers of The Fall ,The Flamin' Groovies ,The Beat Happening,Syd Barrett,Pink Floyd,the Stooges ,Misfits,and Black Flag. Chris's guitar never sounded better ,and with Shane on drums ,we were pretty tight! Plese leave comments ,and let me know what you think of this great recording! Thanks! W.G.O.D ,the greatest underground/pirate radio station ,to ever hit the airwaves (back in the 90's in the Ft. Myers,Florida scene!) ,is now available as a Godcast (podcast)! This episode is the midnite show from July 9th of 1994. G O D is joined by guest d.j. J A H ,of W.T.H.C. radio ,and there are liners and drops by oldie station d.j. extrordinaire ,Doug Shannon ,at every twist and turn of this fine show.Food Fortunata even lends his talents with a couple of between song messages himself! ONE FELL SWOOP - Live! at the Corkscrew Ranch ,Ft. Myers ,Florida ,3/21/1992

This is the second to last show by these guys (the next day was our final gig at Serena's ,a rock/metal club in Cape Coral ,but more on that later!) We were first to play in a line-up of over 10 bands ,our first time with a bass player ,Vance Burdge ,helping us out. The music sounds top-notch ,but we were out doors ,and the P.A. system was not loud enough to catch most of the vocals.Pictured above is beautiful, royal palm-lined McGregor Blvd. ,a side-road off of which led to the ranch.A very receptive crowd of everyone in the scene was in attendance ,and it was one of our finest moments. As previously mentioned ,the next day was our last show at Serena's ,and we had a flyer which stated it was a benefit for some dead girl ,who was not actually dead ,at the time ,and her parents were awfully pissed off ,when they learned of our advertisement.There were hair-bands and metal-heads galore ,we were the only alt-rock college music band playing ,and they sent us off to the upstairs stage ,while they ruled the main stage on the lower floor. Since we had drawn a crowd upstairs ,these fucking heshers followed us up ,as to eject us from the stage.A classic line was thrown at me and Chipmonk by one of them ,"Hey ,did you teach him to play guitar ,or did he teach you?" My reply was ,"We taught each other!" They did not like that,to say the least. Sadly the gig was not recorded,so this Corkscrew Ranch gig ,is our final recorded legacy. There is still one missing studio track ,with the core trio ,and Eric "Trig" Triglet ,on vocals (produced by Vance at his Kitty Grind Studios ,in the Cape). When I locate that ,I will surely post it ,as well as some remixes from various live offerings. Enjoy it ,and wish yourself back to the salad days of the FTM. Recorded 20 years ago,today!!!!!

WGOD # 14 - early 90's - Punk show - rap/dub/reggae show

On this ,one of the earliest WGOD broadcasts ,the show is split into : The Punk Rock Show ,and the Rap/Dub/Reggae Show. There is no Sluggisha set ,as this was before that was a part of WGOD's playlists. Just slamdancin' classic punk tunes and rumblings from the ghettos! I gave away most all of the WGOD tapes ,although Fred (Jeff McDonald ,not formerly of Redd Kross) ,says he has a bunch he found in an old trunk ,that he will give me! The rest is the standard by which all other alt-rock ,diy ,indie bands are to be judged! Just great tunes and words,fine sounding guitars ,weird keys ,and the pizza pan /drum rim /typewriter case ,drum-kit! Ed,Joel,& Chipmonk ,carried on this way for 6 months ,or more. Other bands spawned during this time frame were: The Apocalyptic Centurions , The Magic Nose Goblins I and II , The Angry Rednecks ,Stonehenge Mouth ,amongst others! All these bands can be found on this blog! OFS was an institution (or maybe should have been put in an institution) ,in the downtown Ft. FRED HOTH & BIG BED - Fish Rocks

A fine example of suburban home made punk rock ,of the 1,2,3,4 GO!!! style,which sounds as if they've been playing these songs for years,in other words ,Fucking Great!! ! This is Doug Boone ,Mike Smith ,and Brian Reed ,and someone plays bass on some of this too! These guys were also in the bands ,"Kindergarden Terror" , and "Pigtales" ,which is posted somewhere else on this blog! If you love kids playing slam-dancin',funny as hell ,punk rockin' songs ,then this is for you ( I know you would totally be into this ,Ashey!!) . A cover of Sonny & Cher's ,"I Got You, Babe" ,from this recording ,was featured on last year's massive 100 band compilation , "Popeil Punk / K-Tel Kore" ,also to be found elsewhere on this here blog! Plus they cover Devo's ,"Whip It" ,with funny results.And how can you not download this , with songs like ,"I'm Going To Move Into An Apartment With Ted Nugent's Mom" , "Phil Donahue Smokes Crack" , "If We Can Walk Together ,Why Can't We Mosh Together?" , "The Day They Kicked Lizzie Borden Out Of R.E.M." ,and other hilarious titles. And the album title ,does it have anything to do with John "Fish" ,from Record Bar?(later Tracks). And the lyrics are even funnier ,some border on GG Allin's foul mouthed librettos! Doug gave me this tape years ago, and I highly recommend it! I'm hoping one of the guys from this band will contact me,and maybe shed more light on this great lost Ft. Myers band!!

DICK DALE LIVE! AT THE PYRAMIDS,FT. MYERS,FLORIDA ,2/25/1996

The flyer above is from a show,at a different venue,about a week after I recorded this.Joel and Billy were also there.There is a brief snippet of the opening band(unfotunately,not the Gotohells!),whose name escapes me,but they had girls in the band,and they sucked!We do make a few comments at the top of the recording! the first track of Dick,has a glitch about halfway thru,but after that it's smooth sailing (or ,surfing ,as the case may be!).A funny anecdote about this show: a girl ,standing just in front of us,obviously drunk,was swaying and dancing to Dick and co.,and she peed herself,it leaked on the floor,and she slipped in the pee,and cracked her head! The highlight of the show,and Dick wasn't bad either!If anyone happens to know the track list,if you would kindly put them in the comments box below,for those that need such things!

this is more old ft.myers,fl punk,2 live shows,2 line-ups.first show is at edison community college,5 songs(well,one spoken piece)with mike griffin,dave roth,nathan adams,randy stack and peter kreutlein,from 1985.second show is 7 songs(including a fine cover of the 13th floor elevators,"you're gonna miss me) with mike,dave,shane pringle,tony rizzo,and peter on keys,at 4 freedoms park in cape coral,from 1986.these fellas have great songs like,"noisemaker","the axe","20 minutes","tommorow now!",and more.sounding much like early pere ubu,d.a.f.,cabaret voltaire,and more synthy electronic bands from the 80's.very rockin' and highly enjoyable.mike said he would send some newer stuff to be posted,that would be great as it is more of his noise/power electronics stuff,so yipee!
