Spiritual Chicken is Frank Goshit ,of Canada ,sounding much like a demented gypsy ,if she was a chicken on acid.I think I can detect some large bells or chimes ,bonging on some of this track ,a piece that will do almost nothing to relax you ,my friend! Dylan ,Florida's favorite shitcore son , is Hell Garbage ,and this time he goes acoustic ,with a song that has little to nothing to do with cous cous.Both tracks clock in at around 16 minutes , experimental and original as always with these guys! 3 wandering minstrel-like tracks ,that once again are culled from the same well as early David Jones (later name-change to Bowie ,as to distinguish himself from the singer of the then popular Monkees!) .Kinda sounds as if these tracks were recorded in the atmosphere shown in the cover art. KAAGOOTAABAA - I Titled This Myself

A 3 song ,15 minute journey ,into the mind of John ,a/k/a Kaagootaabaa. The North Carolinian ,releases his 11th album (not including splits ,and compilation tracks) ,to the Sluggisha blog! The first 2 tracks are mostly acoustic guitar instros ,while the third track is a drone of a hum! BLOODPONIES - Mayflower

The first self-released Bloodponies tape ,on his own Gainmas Industries label ,recorded on Earth Day 2008 ,Dylan is in his wandering minsterel/traveling troubador mode ,throughout. The tales he spins ,set to his own acoustic guitar's magical tones ,will draw you in to his world."The Merry Gallows" ,one of my faves here ,is reminiscent of a young David Jones (a/k/a Bowie) ,with fey english accent ,and vivid imagery in the lyrics ,as with all the lyrics in these tunes.Great drinkin' music ,mellow and violent all at once!

KAAGOOTAABAA - The Sensitivity Sessions

We've seen ,and heard ,John from Kaagootaabaa ,grow over the succesion of tapes he's been recording since last year. On this all-new ,2 disc set (with a whopping 85 cuts!) ,I was reminded several times of the Royal Trux double-LP masterwork ,"Twin Infinitives" ,and I must say , that this Kaagootaabaa release is the best yet. Recorded over Nov-Dec 2011 ,it sounds as if doing that split with Skindust a while back ,rubbed off on John a little.Pitting pensive ,moody acoustic guitar pieces ,against brutal and sometimes harsh noise pieces,and mixing in some power electronics sounding shit,along with inane vocalizing , is a winning combination on this recording. Split into 2 discs ,the first is, "Songs Of Love And Dance" , is back and forth every other song switching from mellow guitar instumentals ,to ear-blasting slabs of mindless noise. With an obligatory GG Allin cover song. Disc 2 ,"Songs Of Fun" ,include more of the hilarious song titlings ,as the first disc did, and features Dr. Bad Touch on keys ,on one number. Yes, John's come a long way in a short amount of time. Look for Kaagootaabaa on upcoming splits with like-minded artists. A whole lot of Kaagoo ,to take in all at once ,maybe too much fore some,but well worth it! This is the masterpiece John will have to live up to ,and follow-up with something even wilder!(if that's at all possible , I don't see how!)

BLACK NERD - Acoustic Backyard Jam

This is exactly what the title implies. Chipmonk was sadly missing from this tape. Billy and Shane ,play guitars ,Sean Burch/Monson plays bongos ,and some guitar and vocals. Recorded live on 4/5/1992 in Sean's backyard.Definitely cult , and there was a fanzine (the cover of which is reproduced above!) ,of unknown origin , that was printed in a ltd. edition of 13 copies(!), dedicated to this band ,posted  over at my other blog  . There is also a great live at the Draft House recording ,located elsewhere on this blog. This must have been fun for the participants ,as it is fun to listen to. Do an eight-niner ,and sink into this atmospheric set of tunes.

These were both previously released ,seperately. "Frenchy Is Going Toupee" ,from Chopping block ,is best described in the words of Food ,"Acoustic songs about pants and important bodily functions. Very strange that it was recorded sober.Almost acceptable." For, "Gasso De Potasso" , by Piss Twister,he proclaims,thusly, "Crappy mess that almost approaches industrial at times,but is saved by it's own disinterest in itself.Ocassionally great." ,and, "Crappy mess that almost sounds good when you're drunk.My god,what a mess.Cute." CAT MACHINE - Unplugged !

Live from Tony's room,11/10/90,recorded between midnite and 3 a.m.,with special guests ,Billy Drake,Shane Carwile,Katie Ball,and Christian Vic,(who showed up towards the end ,and crashed on the couch).Ed and Joel,the other 2/3rds of the core,were also in attendance.An acoustic outing,using guitar,pipes,and flutes,sampling,all manners of percussion,and some of the weirdest lyrics,this side of the pail.About the last 2o minutes is Ed,with an acoustic guitar,spitting stream of conciousness,free style words,to an audience of sleeping participants,to his humor,and their discontent.Funny as hell,and a few songs stand out,Tony's centerpiece,"Another One Drink",which he wrote,everyone singing in unison on,"Lost My Mind For A Moment(Fuck Magic Bus)",a totally different from the previous version,"Crude Being Made Flesh",and a cover of B.T.O.'S ,"Takin' Care Of Business",which sounds like drunken derelicts behind a dumpster.The rest of the tunes defy description,only to say they sound like Cat Machine,leaves much to the imagination.Not their usual sound,tho' they did use acoustic styles on the song,"When The Apeman Smiles",on a later studio tape,to great effect,as well as the tune,"Treehouse" on another later recording,but never before or since ,have they performed a whole tape acoustically.This was right around the time mtv was starting their Unplugged series,so we ran with it.Folky,punky,bluesy,and Shane does a drum solo,on an improvised drum set!This is worth your while,you will be amused,and looking forward to the next tape,dated 11/28/90,just after Thanksgiving!
