THE 6TH STREET MUNTUS -Marsting Roashmellos

Let the truth be told! The 6th St.Muntus, wrote 2 Buzz Workshop songs on this one!Yes, the original versions of ,"Downtown Pogo",and,"Extra Large",which were live staples of Buzz Workshop. This is three-fourths of that band,so,as they say, incest is best! These guys kinda sound like a junior league Flipper,on most of this session. From 4/20/1996,at Club 5455,in beautiful Crime Manor!

CAT MACHINE - The Racket

Simply put, this is the noisiest tape,Cat Machine ever recorded.Ed,Joel,Tony, and special guests,Billy Drake,Ryan(observer),and a real drum set!Recorded 12/11/90,in the front living room at Cat Machine house,it is raucous raccoon, recommended to those who like noise and industrial! There are more versions of ,"Queen Turd",&"Crazy Mary",and 1st versions of the songs,"Vexed","Tradgedy Museum","Are These Our Children",and more, that show up on the next tape, and some became live staples! As a matter of fact 8 of these songs,re-appear,albeit in different versions,on the next release.Very loud, and fun!"I Hate Vacuums",later became a 6th St. Muntus hit! In 2 parts, get both!

THE 6TH STREET MUNTUS-flingin'zingers

4/4/96 at 5455,this is me,joel, and mike smith, again, this time beating out the muntus sound.experimental as always, has a vacuum on one short track, and"smitty goes berserk",which is not just a title!only 4 pieces here, adds up to about 45 min. of thinking music for the easily distracted.almost always reminds me of going to the county fair, and pooping in ladies purses, when they 're not looking!a surprise awaits those who brush their hair!

the 6TH STREET MUNTUS-tie the dog loose!

3/29-30/96 is the date,5455 is the place, the muntus are in full effect!me,joel, and vance start it out, vance leaves after 3 songs, and jessica steps into his place, for the remaining 5 pieces.as always, very experimental, and different from the other muntu tapes, every session we ever did had it's own sound.this has a lot of sampling, electronics,as well as your standard bass, guitar, drum thing, the meaning of life is on here, and i think the last track utilizes a few toy saxophones.really trippin' stuff, definitely a desert island band, lots more to come from these greats!

the 6TH STREET MUNTUS-middle of nowhere

more free-jazz punk-skronk from the finest in the manor.every one of their tapes sounds totally different from the next.on these sessions, the first six pieces from 3/13/96,features me,joel, mike smith and trig.lotsa weirdo sounds and instrumentations,as well as a bravado performance on vocals by trig("a black woman is trapped in sebastian bach's body").the second half(5 tracks)is me,joel, and zolon, from 3/15/96.very cool, spacey, sample laden trips.live at 5455,6th st.this is the TRUE trippins'.far-out,man!

THE 6TH STREET MUNTUS.....eat payola buttons!

i had to put this up to show another example of the muntus.funny thing,i was listening to side one of this the other day at work, pretty loudly, and there happened to be a crew of surveyors there.the grungiest and roughest looking of them(the woman),asked what kind of music it was.i said,"electronic".she said hmmph! i guess she never heard music before(like this anyway).me.joel,and vance take side 1,(tracks one thru six)which i have figured out to be" einsterzende neubauten meets throbbing gristle".very electronic, industrial, mechanical, machinery music.i use a few uncuts, especially to great effect with an 80's synth vibe mashed up with tony bennett,on"the bennett bop".very crazy and cool.side 2(tracks 7 thru 12) is me,joel, jason(i think a one-eyed boy i worked with)from track 8 onwards(he does vox,the only one's here, on track 11)and mike smith joins us on the final two tracks.this side is like "martin denny vs. the royal trux",i shit you not.recorded partially in an aviary(birds gone wild!)with more electronic underpinnings.there is guitar on some of this too,but mostly power electronics.if you don't listen to this, you are a fool.this could change the way you hear music, and your poor taste in music!please listen or something!bye!

THE 6TH STREET MUNTUS

a loose knit congregation of folks, who change line-ups and styles on every tape.2 sessions here, the first with me,joel, and mike, the second with me,joel, billy, dana(keys on 1 track)and fred and rob hoke,on the song,"if 2 idiots joined".experimental and trippy, musical and flippy!some real pop song gems are in here, most notably,"since last year",and"the grass don't grow".neat-o lots more to come, kinda like a junior league LCXME.
