WHORESHACK - Whoreshack 2 , But Not Too Whoreshack

This is the second recording from the instrumental trio. Although on this round ,from tracks 5 onwards , has special guest guitarist ,Steve Reed ! Kinda like the Ventures , if they were raised on punk and metal music. The only vocals here are imitations of Arnold Horshack , plus 3 covers of , Flipper , The Stooges , and Fear ! And a bunch of idle chit-chat at the last track. And an acapella rendering of the theme song from the Welcome Back Kotter TV show. Recorded live at the Bakery , 3/16/1993. The next post of this band ,will be their first album ,since we worked backwards in succesion. Then after that ,there will be a special posting of their appearance at the coffee house ,with Big Bong Theory ,and Conveyor.

PORK - Strip

Texas trio of punk girls ,with garage punk undertones , pop sensibilities ,and a rockin' sound. This came out in 1994 after a pair of 7" singles (http://www.krecs.com/html/artists/artistpage.php?interest=135 ) ,then pretty much disappeared.Nice document of their songs. All 3 sing,and this was produced by Alejandro Escovedo. Based in Orlando ,this disc was recorded in Tampa in 2002.Covers of ,"Route 66" ,"Little Bit Of Soul" and "These Boots Were Made For Walking" as well as swell original compositions ,and a female vocalist at the helm. This ends with a skit ,that sounds like the characters from the other disc below ,some fucked up fellas.The music and vocals here ,are great as on all their stuff ,and weird and stupid. This one is quite a bit more country -tinged ,than the one below,and a hint of gospel sneaks in as on that disc ,but don't fear,it's dumb! After the first several numbers there is a trippy spoken thing ,with suitably trippy accompaniment , "Cars" , while just following that is , " Sha Na Na" ,a foul-mouthed 50's tribute, then it gets weirder with , "Rainbow Worl' " ,which is hilarious ,and it ends with ,"Scandalous" ("Goodbye To You" ,by Scandal) ,which sounds like a female vocalist doing karaoke? THE DICK PANTHERS - Eternal Biological Conflict

My new pals , The Dick Panthers ,sent in some discs to post! I'll start here ,they all stick to the same basic sound,with enough interesting diversions in music and vocals ,to make you wanna hear it again and again! First off, most of the subject matter has to do with religion and /or masturbation,the music is well-recorded ,and obviously played by folks ,that are too talented to be playing tardcore , but this is great stuff,nonetheless! They had tracks on the ,"WC500" comp ,from Wheelchair , as well as the more recent ,"Fart Filet" compilation. Imagine ,if you will , Elvis, Jimi , James Brown , The Residents, Negativland (the last 2 they channel ,effortlessly ,on the last 2 tracks ,a skit ,and a noise/sampler number) ,any drunken country singer,and Jesus , if they started a band.
