The 14th (!) release from this unheard,underground,outsider,cult-band ,who picked up where Cat Machine left off! This is one of my personal favorites from OFS ,with really good songs ,and a cover of "Night Of The Living Baseheads" ,by Public Enemy! A dog named,"Catfish" ,(the song has a weird breakdown in the middle ,with mechanical sounds and some sort of horn),"Mall Music", and "A Metal Thing" ,in which Gramps arrives at the end of the tune ,to talk/inquire about, "a metal thing". I mean this thing is great from start to finish,I really do enjoy it,and so should you. A good starting point ,for those not yet in the know! The album title relates to weed ,in some way! Recorded 10/22/1991, 20 years ago today!
Another trunk-load of records ,from thrift stores all across this great state(FL). I think this one has more people talking than any other tape in this series. There is the usual ,children's records,preachers,beatles covers,orchestras,exercise records,comedy&humor,and lengthy intros and outros from the "Flight Final" album ,a trippy piece of christian history.A really good one for days like these.
A collection of fine drinking songs. Country-fied ,and I don't really care for country music ,but the old stuff,like this,is great! Johnny had a hit with ,"Ten Little Bottles" ,and followed up with this full -length gem. "Beer-Cicles" ,is mis-spelled on the cover ,but the song rules. As well as the rest of this album.There's even a story,"Octopus" ,and a follow-up to "Ten Little Bottles" ,named ,"The Morning After". You just gotta drink up,and listen to this here music,it's great.
For Halloween ,this sounds suitable.What's more halloweeny than a hearse? Really weird sounding ,as if Chris D. ,of the Flesheaters ,and El Duce ,of the Mentors (which is vocally,not lyrically,what they sound like) , decided to do a band together. And,oh yeah ,if they were from the NJ/NY area. Complete with nazi lifeguard ,and killer tomatoes on back cover!
A spooky trip ,thru a haunted house,with Julie Alexander.Yeah ,side 2 is, The Tiger Hunt , which I left off for the sake of Halloween (if anyone really needs to hear it,I could be persuaded). Hy and Lynn Glaser,as well as Jamie Glaser ,famous for producing children's records,composed and play all the music and wrote the stories.And look at that shitty mushroom Julie's leaning on! Looks like a bird or owl has made a hole in the stem ,to live in.The date says ,1976 ,but it sounds and looks as if from earlier in the 70's. Don't be scared,just keep telling yourself ,"It's only a record , it's only a record"!

These scumfucks from right here by me,in the Tampa Bay area,are total GG worshippers.They've done tribute gigs for GG,and look quite scummy.They played at a now defunct club,a few times (as did Cancerslug),right down the road from me in Pt. Richey.As well as all around Tampa,and even Tarpon Springs! Truly cathartic stuff,I only wish there was more. Again,totally not religious ,as if you couldn't tell! I wonder if this is the guy who was running an ad from Land o' Lakes/Lutz area ,about GG? Anyway ,thanks to John ,once again ,he is the man.
From Georgia ,comes this aptly named crew,who certainly sound as if they have a meth lab.They cover Fang and Seals and Crofts,but they are scumfuck punk rock ,all the way.A rather enjoyable listen.Thanks,John!
From the vast shitlands of Ohio ,comes The Bible Beaters. They sound kinda country/spiritual/gospel-punk ,with a huge spoonful of humor. Reminds me ,at times, of The Dick Panthers.They are still active,and are in fact playing "The Last Rock N' Roll Show Ever On The Face Of The Planet" ,on 12/21/2012.Totally not religious,but bashing religions,all the way!Sent in by John (Kaagootaabaa) ,much thanks.
October 19 ,1991 ,was a weedless day for the Swoop, hence the album title. We tried to alleviate the pain by running thru a cover medley of "Sweet Leaf/Paranoid" (Black Sabbath ,of course!) ,but then delved into the depths of depression with ,"Our Lives Are Over". There are some choice cuts here ,and Chipmonk goes off on a cover of Chuck Berry's ,"Johnny B. Goode" ,which rips Michael J. Fox's version, a new asshole! We even tackle the drug epidemic of the day with the song ,"Ecstacy Street"! Really good session,despite the dope-sickness.
Dwarves frontman ,Blag ,goes solo! From way back in 1995 on Man's Ruin Records ,sounding not unlike the Dwarves ,it's rock 'n roll ,baby ,the way it was meant to be!Kinda halloweeny ,too!
A rare double-album boot! Compiled from several other boots,this has demos,live shows ,and "Return Of The Fly" ,which was unreleased at the time(1990).The track list is mostly right ,it lists 49 tracks ,when there are actually 53 cuts! I fixed it on the mp3's ,like you don't already know these songs! Doyle signed it on the bottom of the eyeball to the left (see close-up), and it's on Johnson Records of NY. Not a bad comp. I've heard much worse. There are a couple of skips and some surface noise ,but,alas, it was pressed on inferior vinyl.This is only my second or third time playing it in 20 years. I left in every second of Doyle tuning up between nearly every song ,cuz' that's the way their shows were ,and I'm going for the full effect! Halloween is nigh ,and I will be posting more related stuff ,another Misfits covers comp. and a Halloween collection akin to last year's ,"Music To Eat Brains To" ,compilation!

A new ,more topical title for this disc would be: "Splitting The Alt-Rock Super Power-Couple" ,in light of the recent news that Kim & Thurston are parting ways after 27 years of marriage! That sucks ,but they will at least finish their upcoming European tour ,and then see what flies. These are good recordings taken from various U.S. gigs during 1992.Courtesy of Joel Rizzo's discard pile ,thanks buddy! p.s. I saw a cool documentary today called "Flicker" ,about Brion Gysin's Dreamachine. Had Lee Ranaldo ,Genesis P. Orridge,William S. Burroughs ,and other underground cultural icons! Check it out,makes you wanna build your own Dreamachine (it would not be very hard,and would be quite rewarding ,in the end!)

Mayf was the original guitarist for Del Shannon,appeared on a bunch of tv shows ,and had some hits. Side a was one of them( it's kinds funny) ,side b is more obscure ,i think?
Substansial disco/funk ,from this band's first single,1979. I think The Sylvers are tied in with these folks.The pic is from their 1st album ,which also has these 2 songs on it.Dance your freaky ass off! Side b could be a tune that Prudential Insurance could use on their commercials,ha ha.
Back-to back tapes on Oct. 8 ,1991! Between 5:30 and & 7:30 a.m. we did this tape covering Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers ,"Roadrunner" ,an ode to a "Chinese Marlo Thomas" ,and we watched and commented on the Ren & Stimpy episode ,"Marooned"! 3 tracks of fun , about 24 minutes into "Marooned" ,Ed blows chunks ,as Joel & Chipmonk giggle like school girls! This is one of the funnest tapes we ever did ,maybe more fun to make than for you to hear,but then again ,maybe not! We were ripped & wasted! Good times!!
